Nothing like a good “Ah-ha!” moment to make you feel like a complete idiot. You know the ones I’m talking about. Those great ideas that come along at the suggestion of someone or something else, and you find yourself wondering: “Why didn’t I think of that?”

I must admit that those moments come more often for me than I’d like to admit. One such moment came over the weekend while attending a graduate student lecture at Spalding University. Kat Shehata, a friend and author, delivered a wonderful lecture about social media marketing and its importance to creating an author platform. She discussed websites, facebook, twitter, goodreads, linked in, and other sites or resources for marketing. While I am on facebook, twitter, and these other sites, it never occurred to me to create an “author page” on facebook.

Thanks to Kat, I decided to give it a try. I created the page on Sunday, which I was later told is the worst day to create a page and send out invites, but I have been overwhelmed by the amount of support I have received from friends, colleagues, fans, and others. So, if you have “liked” my page, thank you! If you haven’t, you should totally check it out! Just visit: http://www.facebook.com/authorrebekahjharris

On my like page, you will find the latest updates about my writing endeavors; information about agents, editors, and the publishing process; conversations about writing, revision, and editing; and, of course, interesting tidbits about life in the Appalachian Mountains.
