So…I published my book.

And I did it on my  own (with the help of some wonderful friends/family).

Other than some medical emergencies I’ve faced down in the last couple of years, this was the most difficult decision I’ve ever made. Traditional or Non-traditional? Keep working toward agent/editor/publisher path or put it out there on my own? Complete control or limited control of my own work? Big pub marketing or marketing all on my own?

These were huge questions I have had to answer over the last year, and ultimately, I decided I’d rather stand on my own two feet and take complete responsibility for my own success or failure–which was extremely liberating but also scary.

It’s a decision about which I have ZERO regrets.

Yes, I’m fighting tooth and nail and spending every spare moment to make this book a success, but already, the hard work is paying off. People are reading my book. Friends. Relatives. Strangers. My labor of love has ventured out into the world, and people are loving it. There is nothing more satisfying than that.

In only a few days, I’ve had some great reviews, all of them five-star. So here’s a glimpse of what people are saying:

“Just finished this book. It was very difficult to put down.” -Amazon customer

“Wow! This author has clearly done her homework, and her respect and love for Native American heritage and lore are evident in this beautifully and carefully crafted story.”-Amazon customer

“The strong world-building brings the story to life. I can’t say enough positive things about this debut novel for Harris. I anxiously await the next installment!”-Amazon customer

“The amount of detail and heart Harris put into her characters and setting make The Spirit Breather stand out from the crowd. The story is wildly entertaining, the characters are easy to love, the plot is carefully crafted, and the writing is lovely. This was a refreshing read and I’m looking forward to more about Joseph and Emily in the future.” –ARC recipient

“I’m having trouble adulting right now b/c all I want to do is finish your book. It’s so good! Can’t wait for the next installment.” -Reader message

I am overjoyed that the book has been well received by so many–not only friends and loved ones but also perfect strangers who have discovered this story.

My cup runneth over.
